At the present time my mind is so full of heterogeneous matter that I almost despair of ever being able to put it in order. She went to college and became the first deafblind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree. At the age of seven, Helen met her first teacher Anne Sullivan who taught her reading and writing that made tremendous progress with her ability to communicate. Helen lost her sight and hearing after a bout of illness at the age of nineteen months. She was an American author, educator, disability rights advocate, and political activist.
